Every year the picturesque village of Altamont turns out for the Victorian Holiday Celebration. This popular family event attracts visitors from across the Capital Region and is capped off with Santa’s arrival on the train at the beautifully restored Victorian Train Station on Main Street.
Activities kick off at noon at the Masonic Hall, 138 Maple Avenue, Altamont. There are free activities indoors and outdoors throughout the village: Festival of Trees, Wreath Auction, History/Mystery Scavenger Hunt, Living Nativity, as well as food, crafts for kids, bonfires, games, Christmas carols, Sax-o-Claus, and even bagpipes.
A trolley will take visitors on a loop around the village, stopping at multiple Winter Market locations where visitors can find artisan crafts, local brews, and festive food. Many village businesses will open regular hours with some hosting special events.
At 5:00 p.m. Santa arrives on the train at the beautifully with gifts and photo opportunities for kids.
