The newest business to join the Lark Street family, Shogun Sushi & Sake Bar, opened to the public this past Tuesday to a very large crowd of hungry sushi lovers. Shogun, located at 457 Madison Avenue between Lark and Willet St, is the second location opened by owner Frank Lee. Lee possesses over 20 years of experience serving the palettes of the Capital Region in Japanese, Chinese, and American cuisine. Lee’s first Shogun location, at 318 Delaware Avenue in Delmar, is the top rated restaurant in Delmar on Trip Advisor with 30 five-star reviews and has a rating of four and a half stars on Yelp, with many of the reviewers calling the sushi the best in the Albany area. Lee spent several months renovating the former Albany Art Room space into a larger and more decadent version of his Delmar Shogun location.
The amazing food and highly regarded service Lee brings with him to the Lark Street community are sure to make this new location a massive success. Shogun’s menu includes a list of specialty sake cocktails and the restaurant also boasts a private parking lot that holds twenty cars. Opening day had a consistently packed dinner crowd. I suggest making reservations for dinner, but if you don’t, it is definitely worth the wait!
