Today, Wednesday, September 26 from 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM, will be the last of a four part Art Fair put together by Albany Events that happened every Wednesday of this month. The event gave Downtown employees and afternoon visitors the chance to relax, listen to some new local music, and visit art vendors. Below is a list of the top three moments that we experienced down at Tricentennial Park.
1.) A Mosaic Cat!
Cat people unite. Mosaic master Christine spent her downtime creating more unique crafts. We got a chance to watch her put together a mosaic feline. Somewhere, there is a cat lover, who has this piece hanging on their wall.
2.) Hand Habits Sonic Landscape
Local musician Meg Duffy backed by guitarist Jonnie Baker provided a unique listen for Downtown art enthusiasts. The small pop-up tent provided for the band was filled with amps, samplers, effect pedals, and wires bursting out distortion, delay, and all sorts of sounds. Many visitors were probably asking the same question: How could two people making so many sounds? The answer: multitasking.
3.) Kiernan Plaza Recreated
We took some time to watch talented artists Kevin Kuhne apply his watercolor chops to the historic Kiernan Plaza that stands on the other side of Broadway. One of the great aspects of this event is the ability to see one’s craft first hand. Mr. Kuhne proudly let us watch him display his skill.
If you have not made it out yet, TODAY is your last chance! Come on Downtown, take a look at some beautiful artwork, and listen to the Rambling Jug Stompers. Find that perfect gift for family or a friend.
