This Saturday you can look like a million bucks–and raise money for hurricane relief.
Mirror Images Spa and Salon Student Clinic at Austin’s School of Spa Technology will host a special clinic day fundraiser this Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 10am to 4pm. All proceeds from each service performed at Mirror Images will be donated to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
“Our sister school is in New York and so we have students affected by this disaster, and we just want to help them,” says Maria Neal, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Mildred Elley. The Manhattan campus is located in the heart of the financial district at 25 Broadway. While classes are back in session, many of the college’s students are still reeling from the storm’s impact, she says.
On Saturday, December 1, choose any service from the salon menu, which includes $9 haircuts and $11 spa pedicures, and your money will go straight to helping those students get back on their feet.
This event marks the third fundraiser undertaken by the school to support areas affected by the storm. Students and staff also collected and delivered food and supplies to storm victims on November 16, in a partnership with another Central Avenue business, Security Plumbing & Heating Supply.
The school is currently collecting donations for 10 themed gift baskets that will be raffled off to raise money for continued relief assistance. “We are going to ask local restaurant vendors for gift certificates as well as ask our staff to donate items or raise money,” says Neal. The baskets have appealing themes including “Pampering” “Tea & Cookie” and “Gift Wrapping.” The raffle will be held December 7.
