A greeting card I bought recently reads something like this:
Dear New Year’s Resolution,
Well, it was fun while it lasted.
Sincerely,
January 2nd
Although funny, I bought the card to remind myself how quickly best intentions are often lost.
At the top of my resolution list this year, turn off the television and not lose my intention to have more fun. Get out of the house and live a little. Attend cool events and concerts. Playing outside. You get the picture.
But more than getting out to enjoy activities – whether that be a gallery or a show – my goal is to support local initiatives that cause creative stirs. I’m a big believer of use it or lose it. And this is very true with the entertainment and arts throughout the country. It is self-reflection really. If I don’t buy a ticket or be an audience member, I can’t be disappointed when someone else makes that same choice.
I am starting right in downtown Albany with this resolution. With the Wine and Dine for the Arts, the annual 3-day Food & Wine themed Festival held January 17 – 19, 2013. I attended the gala portion of this event last January and was impressed by the culinary displays and creative pairings. Yum! If you like slider slams, grand tastings or food – this is a superb idea to add to the calendar. Read all about this event and the beneficiary organizations it supports at www.albanywinefest.com. And then course, let’s keep with our intentions and buy some tickets.
Happy New Year!
