Opportunity knocked when one businesses was looking to gain an edge and another was ready for an exit strategy. Early in the year, news broke that catering giant Angelo Mazzone’s – Mazzone Hospitality – would be buying their largest competitor, Classe Catering (11 North Pearl), positioning the two companies into one tremendous catering force, pulling in the best attributes and expertise of both companies.
The beautiful historic banquet hall at 11 North Pearl is now run exclusively by Mazzone Hospitality. According to Matt Mazzone, the company’s intention is to build on the amazing events presented by Classe Catering backed by Mazzone’s booking power and existing customer base. One attraction specific to Downtown was the trend of the urban bride interested in having nuptials with the city as the background.
“The Downtown wedding is a theme that has grown relatively quickly and is popular with both locals and non-locals,” explained Matt Mazzone, CFO, Mazzone Hospitality, “Brides want to be able to get married, take photography, walk to the hotel, then to the reception and so forth. This investment was critical as we see that trend continuing and anticipate more and more of that type of business.”
