Students roamed the spacious hotel, enjoying free caricatures, henna tattoos, karaoke, video games, foosball, and piled their plates high with food from the district&#8217;s many restaurants, which have become renowned for their authentic international cuisine.<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-10889\" src=\"https:\/\/www.albany.com\/buzz\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2012\/08\/central20bid_092-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.albany.com\/buzz\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2012\/08\/central20bid_092-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.albany.com\/buzz\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2012\/08\/central20bid_092-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.albany.com\/buzz\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2012\/08\/central20bid_092-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\u00a0Merchants say the event, which was free to district members, was a great opportunity to meet potential customers and get the word out about Albany&#8217;s growing uptown.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8220;It was great! We had a signup sheet for email info and filled three pages worth of students eager to learn more,&#8221; said Jessica Lubin, owner of Good Karma Yoga Studio on Vatrano Road.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8220;Yes, it&#8217;s a great opportunity to meet first year students that have not experienced the Avid Entertainment events at The Armory,&#8221; said Michael Corts, Promotions Manager for the Washington Avenue Armory and Avid Entertainment.
