That can happen. No worries &#8211; I am here to help you out so you won&#8217;t slip up again next year. Here are a couple of Albany themed Halloween Costumes to consider, and good news, you have 365 days to get it together.<\/p>\n<p><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11475 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.albany.com\/buzz\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2012\/10\/phlllil.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/>Phillip Schuyler<\/b><\/p>\n<p>For those of you who are unfamiliar with Phillip Schuyler, he was a General in the American Revolution, who was also a proud Albanian (of New York of course). You will need to conjure up some 18<sup>th<\/sup> Century garb for this costume. Make sure to find the most frivolous jacket, vest, and knickers you can find. As far as props go a tri-corner hat is essential. To have a better understanding of the attire that General Schuyler would sport, refer to his statue in front of Albany City Hall on Eagle Street.<\/p>\n<p><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11467 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.albany.com\/buzz\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2012\/10\/tulip2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"167\" \/>A Tulip<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A Tulip is a great idea that might suit those looking for more color. For this costume plan on wearing all green clothing to make your body resemble the stem of a flower. Get creative with this one and construct the petals with repurposed materials. Use cardboard for a sturdier costume and apply a whole lot of paint! On a side note &#8211; the Albany Tulip Festival is turning 65 years old in 2013 so you will be perfectly timed for flower power.<\/p>\n<p><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11477 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.albany.com\/buzz\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2012\/10\/glogogogogog.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/>Dutchmen\/women<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Whether it&#8217;s the annual Tulip Festival or a sighting of the Half Moon sailing on the Hudson River, Albany&#8217;s Dutch background is evident even 400 years later. To pull off the Dutch costume a pair of Dutch Clogs is essential. Cap off the outfit with some vintage clothing and save some money on an overpriced costume. In the mean time as you envision your Dutch themed costume for next year&#8217;s Halloween festivities, visit the Sculpture in the Streets Clog exhibit for inspiration.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t be too upset if your costume didn&#8217;t achieve the results you were hoping for, there is always next year.
