The Central Avenue Business Improvement District has always

been about putting our district to work. Now, we are now working with a number of

local and national outreach programs to help put our residents and neighbors to

work.

“We can’t just live in a bubble,” says Anthony Capece,

Executive Director for the Central Avenue Business Improvement District. Capece

says the district board participated in a strategic planning session a year ago,

and realized that taking the district to the next level required reaching out

the neighborhoods surrounding the district, helping with community building as

well as employment and job training opportunities. “We’ve been able to creatively

mix our mission into that, making it better for our businesses and the

surrounding neighborhoods at the same time,” says Capece.

Headquartered at the Central Business offices at 176 Central,

our “On the Job” program works with several partners to train and employ

students, veterans, and special needs individuals and to secure funding for small

businesses, which provide 65% of new jobs.
