There is no doubt that Quarterback, Johnny Manziel is the sexy name is this year’s draft.
Whether parties with platinum rapper Drake or McDonald’s commercials with basketball royalty and future NBA Hall of Famer Lebron James, Johnny “Football” has earned his nickname and has positioned himself for stardom even beyond that of what he has already tasted.
Johnny Manziel’s performance at Texas A&M has led to A&M Head Coach, Kevin Sumlin, referring to Manziel as the most exciting football player in NCAA football history.
If you agree or disagree, there is no debating the fact that Manziel’s production while at A&M and savvy to make the big play was both reliable and consistent against top tier competition in the talent laden SEC.
While Manziel showed superior on-field leadership at Texas A&M, more importantly, he demonstrated a sense of responsibility and accountability, steering clear of any type of adversity during the months leading up to this year’s draft.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will have Manziel fall into their lap. The Jags will not be able to pass up Manziel’s intelligence for the game, his physical talent and the sheer economic boost Manziel’s presence will provide to the franchise.
With that said, the Houston Texans won’t pass up the opportunity to pair Defensive End / Outside Linebacker prospect, Jadevean Clowney, with superstar JJ Watt.
Jadevean Clowney is the evolution of former Tennessee Titan first round draft pick, Jevon Kearse. Clowney’s athleticism and freakish measurables do come along with questions however.
Many question Clowney’s motor and desire to show up week in week out. Those with elementary football knowledge understand Watt’s motor runs hot and never stops.
Watt will teach Clowney how to be a professional, both on and off the field, and will be the senior leadership Clowney will need as he finds his way.
