Every now and then I get impatient to know what life has in store for me. This is one of those times, as we stand on the cusp of a new month.
So, I checked a variety of horoscopes to get a preview.
‘Scope No. 1 — “Discipline and a sense of duty has been a theme for you lately, and it may seem as if someone has put the brakes on a current plan of yours. In reality, this is an important time for you to slow down and plan … to organize your scattered energy, focus and streamline your life.”
Got it: Slow down, plan carefully and simplify my life.
‘Scope No. 2 — “Feed your head with some of the best stuff around. Light entertainment is lots of fun, but you need something more substantial and complicated. Your gray matter needs a lot more stimulus than it’s been getting.”
Oh, ok. Forget No. 1, get moving, take on tougher tasks and add to my life.
‘Scope No. 3 — “This will be an exciting month. August will burst with activity. If you found July tense, by now you’ve now figured out what you need to do and can move forward with great speed.”
Oh, now I really get it. Forget the first two predictions, haul ass and do something. Anything! Now!! Hurry!!!
Hmmm. This horoscope business seems a lot like other guesswork-as-science fields of endeavor. Things like astrology, weather predicting, fantasy football and figuring out not just where we’re going but where we came from.
