A true family affair, the Mallozzi family bought Villa Italia when it was a small pizzeria in the summer of 1965 and it has been in their family ever since. The newest venture by White Management, the company behind Bountiful Bread, The Butcher Block, Mangia and the Log Jam, Creo’ opened last year in Stuyvesant Plaza. An eclectic mix of Mediterranean and American styles, the menu offers dishes prepared in their wood-fired ovens, grills and in rotisseries. Latin for “create”, Creo’ is one of the first restaurants in New York to be LEED certified and features a grass roof, floors made from recycled materials and energy-efficient equipment. Great for the environment and great for us, Creo’ is sure to be sticking around for a while.

For 25 years, Len Tantillo, native of upstate New York, has been creating historical and marine paintings. His ability to tell a story through a picture has helped him land his work in national exhibits, books, television documentaries and in periodicals. In 2005, Tantillo was asked to create a painting for the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and he was the subject of the documentary, “Hudson River Journeys” by Public Television in 2004. His studio is in southern Rensselaer County.
