Capital Region Living hits the shelves<\/strong><\/p>\n 12\/1\/2003 4:26 PM You're likely familiar with popular magazines about far away places and far out people. But now, there's a new guy in town–our town.<\/p>\n Publisher, Michael Gough said, "We uncovered a need for something like this in the area. We were going to do a direct mail advertising product that would have been strictly advertising, no editorial."<\/p>\n But that would have been too boring, they said, so they came up with "Capital Region Living." It's a magazine with plenty of advertising, but a lot more than that. The latest in a line of locals, its creators said it fits a market niche some have tried before, and not all have been successful. They're optimistic, and just a little nervous — with good reason.<\/p>\n It takes a lot of money to start a magazine. But where they once put financing up front, now they're putting the Capital Region in the spotlight.<\/p>\n It's a rather large undertaking to put out a magazine like this, with more than 80 pages of articles, ads, and photos. <\/p>\n For example, Managing Editor Mary Beth DeCecco isn't just a managing editor. Her list of duties is almost endless.<\/p>\n DeCecco said, "Six people charged with doing it all, and they said it will get even bigger."<\/p>\n Meaghan DiGiovanni said, "It's demanding.
