Living in Albany, and being a follower of local politics as I am, absolutely nothing at all surprises me. Not even the announcement yesterday by Frank Commisso Jr. (from here on to be referred to as Junior) that he was running for the soon to be vacant assembly seat in the 109th District. The endorsement of his father to be the heir apparent to McEneny’s seat by the Party was no real surprise; and when Frank Sr. announced weeks later that he was no longer interested wasn’t really surprising; and when Junior got on stage to commit to the race was no surprise at all. This people, is Albany politics at it’s finest. All the Party heavyweights will now step up and get behind Junior. I truly feel sorry for the other candidates who have already committed to the race. Candidates who could be eminently more qualified can’t compete on the same playing field with a committee backed candidate. The endorsement of Assemblyman McEneny will be a huge deciding point in this primary. I hope Jack endorses Pat Fahy for his seat. I hope that Mayor Jennings does the same. She is qualified, and I believe would best represent the 109th District without the obvious ties to the Party. Long live the machine.……….My pals at Occupy Albany are in the news again. Once again my favorite occupy pal and moron Brad Russell got himself arrested again. He along with five others were arrested for refusing to leave Senator Skelos’ office while protesting the dead on the floor issue of raising the minimum wage. The six were charged with criminal trespass. I hope that this time they are prosecuted, and when they appear before a judge, they are at least required to pay a substantial fine. That’s great resume material, eh occupiers?
