While the presidential election is heating up, and it will be a while before people start taking sides, locally, our politcos make their intentions known early. This is especially the case in the race for the soon to be vacant assembly seat in the 109th AD. Last Monday, Pat Fahy opened up her campaign headquarters in downtown Albany. Standing with her was a host of fellow Albany Democrats, most notably party chairman Matt Clyne. While the party didn’t back a candidate at it’s meeting, this is probably as close as you can get. Along with Clyne, stood seven of the ward leaders (an eighth was not in attendance,) along with the party chairmen of the Town’s of Guilderland, Bethlehem and New Scotland. Mind you, Pat is in a six way primary for the seat, one of the candidates being Frank “Junior” Commisso. What this is telling me, is that half the leaders of the Albany Common Council — almost all of the area covered by the 109th AD — are telling us, that they don’t want a candidate that was ramrodded down everybody’s throats, when Junior decided to run after his father stepped down. Not to mention his speculative qualifications for the job. This leaves you, Mayor Jennings, standing on top of the old school over the hill. Wait until Kathy Sheehan — your probable opponent in the next mayoral primary — stands by Pat. Her, along with the police and firefighters, compromise a lot of city government. I just hope that the people will recognize that the party is changing, and that they are willing to change along with it.……….The Albany TU had a right to the point opinion on the matter of pay raises for our state legislators. And that would be NO. They were point on in saying, while they have passed two on-time state budget’s, they have consistently left on the table hot ticket items. One of them being the raise in the state minimum wage. I, along with the TU — and probably most of New Yorker’s — think that their current wage is just fine. You don’t want to go down the road of discussing your other perks.……….They welcomed Savannah Guthrie as the new co-host of the Today Show this morning. She was all giggly, and so was that backstabbing moron Matt Lauer. There was no mention of Ann Curry, who they railroaded off the show. If I were Ann, I would tell NBC to stick that new contract up their ass. I’m sure she won’t look too long for another job.……….If you want one, you can get a Governor Cuomo bobblehead over at the Valley Cat’s game tonight. This is a special addition one that not only goes up and down, but it goes both left and right.……….Congrats to the Yankees for their thorough thrashing of the Red Sox over the weekend. That’s all I have to say.
And that is “The Daily Take”
