How is it that the city of Albany can spend a year debating, listening to comments from all the appropriate people, enact a law, only to be applied to different standards as determined by the mayor’s office. According to local media, even the Albany Common Council wasn’t aware of the changes enacted by the city to the new ‘Caberet Law’. Jennings, who has long wanted to control the time that restaurants and bars offering live entertainment, end the entertainment, apparently has gotten what he wants. How can the common council miss the fact that the law didn’t state a ending time, leaving that up to city department’s to ”promulgate” rules and regulations. Jennings is trying to control the downtown bars, leaving the uptown establishments, like the ones in and around Lark Street to suffer in the wake. Litigation has been promised, as it should be. Let’s see if, and when the city tries to enforce the law.……….Speaking of things the city shouldn’t have done in the first place: The creation of charter schools. Another one will bite the dust after the upcoming school year. This is probably due to the fact that the Brighter Choice Foundation — a ”for profit” that runs Albany’s charter schools — has mismanaged the schools from day one, not to mention taking away funding from the Albany School District. Now, parents, once again will have to uproot their children.………Junior Commisso fresh from locking down every vote in the 15th Ward, counting all the money he got from BBL and all the other BBL’s, has started taking shots at Pat Fahy. In a press release, he rips Pat for her supposed support of tax hikes during her tenure on the Albany School Board. At least she has some tenure, Junior. Did you know about the faulty ”Caberet” law?……….Yankees/Red Sox this weekend. Round one: Yankees, 6-4, with five homers. I’ll be there today to watch the Bombers take round two.
And that is a “Weekend Take”
