We have witnessed our first presidential debate this week, and I guess the general consensus is that Mitt Romney came out the winner. I did watch as did some 60 million Americans, and I thought the same thing. What makes one a good debater? Obviously Mitt did some serious preparation, and even he admitted that his “sparring partner” did a better job than the real Obama did. Obama looked tense, while Romney seemed more relaxed. One thing that came across Twitter during the debate said that Mitt was smiling like he was at his daughters wedding (he doesn’t have a daughter, does he?) Anyway, I try to leave the analysis of these national matters to the professionals, although you can bet your ass that the President will come out swinging for the next one.……….Major League Baseball ran out their new playoff system yesterday, with an additional wild card team. Although I consider myself a traditionalist when it comes to baseball, I like the new system. The Divisional Series games are set after yesterdays wild card playoffs. We have Yankees/Orioles, Oakland/Detroit in the American League, with the Nationals/Cardinals, Giants/Reds in the National. Hopefully, we will have baseball into November.……….I have to include some Albany politics in this blog. Our fine Mayor Jennings should start looking over his shoulder, as the candidates appear to be lining up for a run at his office next year. A couple of weeks ago Corey Ellis was elected the Democratic Leader of the 11th ward. Ellis who ran against Jennings in the primary last time around and showed well has come out on the record as saying he will run against the mayor in next years primary. Then we have Kathy Sheehan who has not come right out and said it, but is showing every indication that she will also make a run at Jennings next year. I guess everybody who doesn’t want to run for mayor puts up a sign on a golf hole in Sheriff Apple’s tournament with the wording “Kathy Sheehan for Albany.”
And that is “The Daily Take”
