It’s an incredible event each year. That is the holiday shopping season. As I was typing this blog and had the news in the background, I think that I heard the American people spent something like $60 billion dollars already this Black Friday weekend. Yes, that’s sixty billion dollars! This is a country with so much deficit, it seem just like a drop in the bucket. Incredible.……….There was a little chatter on Twitter this week about whether or not to put the benches back in place at Townsend Park. For those of you who don’t know, the park is a small triangle of land that sits where Washington and Central Avenues meet. The park and it’s half dozen benches primarily served as an overnight haven for the homeless by night and for drug dealers to ply their trade by day (and night.) The Central Avenue Business Improvement District people decided that enough was enough, and removed the benches, and also did a major cleanup of the park. This resulted in a 100% improvement on what was there. Now there seems to be somewhat of an uproar because the removal of few benches kept a few chess players from playing. Yep, let’s put those benches back. Let’s also put some pillows out for more comfortable sleeping. Come on people, what are you thinking about.……….There was a terrible car chase all through Albany and the surrounding area in the early morning hours Saturday that resulted in the death of a man riding a bicycle. Not to dwell on this terrible accident, but could this disaster been avoided? Granted the driver of the pickup truck was some drunk scumbag who had gotten out of prison a few week prior and needed to be put behind bars again, but do you pursue someone through the city at ninety miles an hour? If this had happened a few hours earlier when there were more people around, this could have turned into more of a disaster. What would have happened if it were noontime? Maybe you back off on the pursuit, and wait for the police radio’s to zero in on the idiot. What the heck was Sheriff Apple doing giving Melody Burns of talk radio 1300 a play by play description of the car chase and it’s finality? What’s up with that Sheriff? She has more info than our local paper. But then everybody has more info than the Times Useless.
And that is “The Daily Take”
