After a totally unforeseen but necessary three week hiatus, it is good to be back at the keyboard. I hope my readers have stuck with me. A lot has happened both on the local and national level in the past three weeks, but nothing can surpass the tragedy that happened in Connecticut. While I cannot comprehend the sheer horror that the parents of these children are going through, my thoughts and prayers are with them and with all the victims of Newtown.……….There is the inevitable issue that will resonate from this horrible incident: That being the stance on stricter gun control. Every liberal Senator and Representative of the House will now scramble to introduce versions of law to make guns more difficult to acquire. The bottom line folks is that guns will inevitably end up in the hands of persons who commit crimes no matter how difficult you make them to get. This country was built on a few Amendments that will never be overturned; one of them being the Second.………..There is something else that I need to take issue with. What was the purpose of local TV media, especially Channel 13 sending news crews to Connecticut. They were all over Twitter advertising that “we are heartbroken and ill as we head to Newtown” for live at 11:00. What insight did you possibly hope to gain by going there? Were you seeking out some grieving parent or relative of one of the dead children, just for a live shot. That, people, is just offensive. Plain and simple. Stay home!! Let the networks do their job. A half hour of them is plenty.………..Locally, I see that the concessionaire at Swinburne Park, Bob VanAmburgh has his job back. What a total disaster that was for you Mayor Jennings. If you remember, he called Jerry’s radio program to get an answer on his proposal to run the stand, as his current contract had run out. Hours later, Albany Parks and Rec. had dismantled his stand and put his stuff out on the street. He was told that the park would now be serviced by vending machines and his services were no longer needed. Apparently, due to public uproar, he was awarded the concession, and now all is well. Hey Jerry! Kathy Sheehan was probably behind the whole thing. I hope you’re saving yourself for a grand re-election entrance. She’s out kissing babies, going to parties, sending out e-mails soliciting donations, and basically doing all the things any progressive Democrat would do. One thing she hasn’t got though: pictures on her Facebook page that show any Democrat’s that matter. You’re good Jerry, you’ll have the Commisso’s on your side.
And that is “The Daily Take”
