Last night the Albany Common Council held it’s last public comment opportunity for the citizens of Albany to weigh in on the Redistricting lines that have been drawn up by the commission delegated to do so. While the comment dialogue centered more on keeping the lines as drawn for reasons other that what they are intended for, there was one commenter whose comments will probably be taken to heart. Those were of a Pine Hills Neighborhood Association member who was objecting to the line of the 10th Ward being moved from the south side of Western Avenue to Madison, stating it would hinder the efforts of the Beautify Upper Madison Project. I don’t see why that would have any adverse affect on the project if it were split into two Wards, but keeping St. Rose all in one Ward does make sense. All in all, what difference does it really matter where the lines are drawn? To be totally honest with you I don’t even remember the Redistricting of 2002. Where I live, we have had one Commisso or another for as long as I’ve lived here. Now, my Ward gets a huge change in physical characteristic, but the population center remains the same 6400+/- people it had before. So? So what. Note to Common Council: Vote the lines in as drawn.……….It was kind of sad to read that the appeal in state Supreme Court on the matter of Richard Dutrow Jr.’s ten year suspension was denied. The suspension, along with a huge monetary fine was originally levied on him by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board back in late 2011 for injecting his horses with performance enhancing drugs banned by the board. The ten year ban is basically a death sentence for Dutrow, who has racked up dozens of violations for his abuse of the rules. It means he cannot engage in any racing activity sanctioned by the board in New York state. You hate to see a mans livelihood taken from him, but he has ignored the rules too many times for too many years.……….The Saratoga County DA really put the wood to Dennis Drue yesterday. Hit him with 52 counts, mostly felonies. We will have to see how this plays out in court. Funny, his lawyer hasn’t received any toxicology or accident reports from the DA. They’ve already got the person who did this, was the message in the DA’s circus like press conference yesterday. No way Drue gets a fair trial around here. To everybody in Saratoga county, he’s already guilty.
And that is “The Daily Take”
