Eloquent words by a great man. I find it extremely hard to believe that what’s happening in Congress is what he had in mind. A shut down of government is just what the American people need. Why do the Republican’s in the House feel the need to hold the President hostage over the Affordable Care Act? Granted, it’s a complicated issue, but it hasn’t even gone into affect yet. Over the last week, I have heard some pretty well read people explain it in terms that I can understand, and the bottom line for me is that it will not change anything concerning my health insurance. Health insurance is expensive. Co-pays go up every year. Monthly payments go up every year. But for people with no health insurance, it seems like a viable way to get people covered. But no, we have a congressman quoting Dr. Seuss and pissing-off even his own party. Does Mr. Speaker have that much hate — and that’s a pretty serious word — for the President? I was raised a Democrat, but also voted for Reagan, the Bushes, and yes Richard Nixon; and if the Republican’s can put up someone without a character and plan like Mitt Romney in 2016, I will vote for a Republican again. But, they have a long way to go, and not a single one of their so called early front runners is even on the same playing field with Hillary Clinton. All this animosity toward Obama isn’t helping one bit. If you notice, the only Republican worth mentioning, the Gov. of New Jersey is keeping his mouth shut, and just taking care of the people in his state. Grow up House of Representatives. Give the ACA a chance. That’s the good thing about this country; if it doesn’t work, it can be changed; because it’s supposed to be a government ”By The People, For The People.”……….I have to admit, and I was totally surprised by the plea deal struck in the case of the Shen students in that horrible accident on the Northway last December. Seeing it took so long to charge the defendant, I thought it would turn out to be just an accident. But it appears he was intoxicated, speeding and texting when he hit those kids. It would have been nice to see some remorse from him.……….I just have to weigh in on the situation regarding the teenagers who allegedly damaged the home of Brian Holloway, the ex football player. Did the kids do it? Absolutely. Do they deserve to be hauled into court over this. Absolutely not. The sad thing about this is that it could have been avoided if the kids showed up and helped clean the place up. But you have to look at this Holloway character as well. Here he is, an ex pro football jock who probably made millions during his career, and now has this home that the bank is trying to snap, because he most likely is broke. He’s got a website set up to seek out donations; for what? The only thing that is going to come out of this is that the county of Rensselaer is going to get a lot of work out of the kids doing community service.……….It happens in every administration. The folks that run the departments for the outgoing Mayor are looking for jobs knowing that they will most likely be replaced when the new Mayor takes over. More than ever, this will happen when Kathy Sheehan fills all the jobs with progressive Democrat’s. One bailed already, and immediately walked into a nice civil service job. Aren’t there any qualified people that could have been promoted within the system? I guess not when it comes to appointments instead of promotions. By the way Kathy. I think the folks who take care of the trash, and plow the snow, pretty much have a handle on the situation. Who is going to get the job overseeing the ”Chicken Department”, making sure that the 99% of the people of Albany don’t want chickens, don’t have chickens running all over their backyards.
