As most of my readers have known, I am usually ripping some local public servant, and afflicting my opinion, be it popular or not. In order to keep my reputation intact, I will tell you this: After almost 10 months in her term, I do not believe Mayor Sheehan is doing a very good job. I say this because I think she is in way over her head. I also voted for Ms. Teachout in the Democratic Primary last Tuesday.….By going off the grid, let me tell the readers of this blog that you can have the best weekend of your life just 70 miles away.… Last Friday, my best friend, his wife, me and my wife took off to Cooperstown. The home of the Baseball Hall of Fame.…You don’t have to be a fan of baseball to visit this place. You can just be a lover of the drive to this place from Albany.…We had hotel reservations in advance (which is recommended),and drove the long way across Route 7 so we could stop at this place called (I probably can’t say) which features a nice restaurant, wine tasting if you wish, and other insurmountable ways to spend money. If you choose to use your GPS to get there, you are missing out on a lot of beautiful farmland.…Once in Cooperstown, after settling into our hotel, we ventured outside to the docks which were on the shore of Lake Otsego. Yes that lake. The one immortalized in the novels by James Fennimore Cooper.…Sitting in the chairs along the dock were a couple from Long Island who were in town for a wedding. To make a long story short. Their son and daughter were in the wedding and the parents were in it for the long haul.…While they were getting ready for the wedding, our group took the ferry tour of the lake which is also known as Glimmerglass Lake.…Next day, no matter if you like baseball or not, we visited the Baseball Hall of Fame, It is a museum of museum’s. You could spend an hour there, or you could spend three days there, and never see all the things in that Shrine. If you ever go to the place, you have to visit the Hall of Fame Gallery on the first floor. It will just take your breath away. Just seeing the plaques of the players, the ones who make the game what it is, and the players who will make it what it will be.…It rained that day. It was a good day to spend inside. We saw the couple from Long Island in the HOF as we were leaving, and said that we would see each other next year. Same time, Same place. I certainly hope so.…I also hope to be back in form soon ripping the politicos of our fair city (which these days is not hard to do.)
