It has been awhile that I have written such a blog. Anyway, I want to wish all the out of towners who have taken their time to read this post. You are an important part of our well being as a city, and I hope you enjoy your stay. If you are not a regular visitor to this city, you might not know how we govern the City of Albany. We are definitely a Democratic city, with the voting population probably around 4-1 Democratic. Anyway, without me revealing Mazur’s selection, Albany County was a resounding victory for Bernie, by five points (BTW my ward was for Bernie and Trump.) The Republican side was double digits for Trump. We’ll talk about him later. In a perfect world, we would have a Republican and Democratic front runner now. But Bernie is going to go to the final shot is made, and eventually concede to Hillary. I must admit, that I did not who to pull the lever for until the final moment. I am a registered Democrat, as I have been since my Dad made me join when I was eighteen, but I have been a closet Republican since the Reagan years. No President in my living years has done better for this country then him. Back to the Primary. It was probably a no brainer that Hillary would win. I was surprised that Bernie actually got as many upstate votes that he did. But, we are still in trouble. I am not sure if I am ready for the type of rhetoric that Bernie is talking about, and on the other hand, I think Hillary is dangerous. If I were Secretary of State, Benghazi would never have happened, and I would definitely not use my g-mail account to send messages about world business. Now for a moment, let’s talk about the Republicans. We have Donald Trump, who is inevitably going to win the nomination. We’ve had sixteen men and women in the mix, and now we have Donald Trump and Ted Cruz (is that how you spell it?) The only thing I can take from that, is that Trump has finally hired some people who are trying to make him look Presidential . Right. It is going to be a long Summer……….When I went into the voting booth the other day, the only other option to vote for was for the Delegates to the convention in Philly. It said (in my Ward anyway) to vote for any seven. There were only seven. So I guess you vote for them all. Hillary made sure that she kept all the Albany Dem’s happy. Now we’ve got Mayor Kathy, Common Council Pres. Carolyn, and to the only Albany County Democrat that makes any sense,County Executive Dan McCoy. May you enjoy your time in Philadelphia with the girls (what’s there to vote for anyway.) ……….Last week Albany is undertaking it’s annual transformation from Winter to Spring. Even though we have had the most mild winter I have ever experienced (that’s a lot of years), it seems that all the wildlife is exploding all at once. People that are reading my Blog for the first time; not only has our City a wealth of things to do. The Adirondack’s and Catskill”s are close by, and are some of the best places to visit in the Country.……….BTW. The Yankees are horrible. You would think that they would have acquired some starting pitching in the off season. And maybe some hitting. Those two homers Pinada gave up today, I don’t think have landed yet. The Yank’s have a long road trip ahead of them, then they play Boston at home. Make Me Proud. Follow my Blog at albany.com/daily-take, and please follow me on Twitter @jonmazur.
