Fiirst I would like to welcome all of our out of town visitors to our fair city. There are a lot of things to do here, especially if you have never been to Albany. Grab a bike, take a tour.
Mazur took a little sabbatical from writing this blog, but is back, and better than ever. If you have never read this blog, you may find it not for your taste if your opinion contradicts mine. So let the fun begin.
You will find that one of my persons of interest for my blogs is our illustrious mayor the Honorable Kathy Sheehan. My wife and I decided to play a little game the other night on our way home. The game was called see if you can tell when you enter the city of Albany. We were coming down Western Avenue past Fuller Road; She was driving and I blindfolded myself. To make a long story short short, Western Avenue is paved, and when you get to the Albany city line you feel a resounding bump. Guilderland is not even in an election year, neither is Albany for citywide posts. The mayor has had all summer to at least fix some of the potholes in town, and winter is right around the corner. What is the excuse this time? If you were to go down one of the roads off New Scotland Avenue like Lenox or Euclid, you would not only see newly paved roads, but new sidewalks as well. Could it be that the area is represented by a councilperson with more more pull, or could it be that the people that live there are more affluent.
The City has a new fire Chief. He is current Deputy Chief Joseph Gregory. Has served the city for three decades. H replaces current Chief Warren Abriel who announced his retirement. Albany also welcomes a new Chief of Police. He is Eric Hawkins, currently the Chief of the Southfield, Michigan Police department. He replaces Robert Sears an ALBANY NATIVE, who was acting Chief. I don’t know if you noticed, but the Fire Department promoted from within. Mayor Sheehan had to go halfway across the country to find a Police Chief.
You will find out that Mazur is a Yankee fan. There is currently a 6 1/2 game lead by the Red Sox. That is not too much to overcome.. Larger leads have evaporated. Follow me on Twitter @jonmazur
