The group is touring 2024-2025 in promoting their recent recording Cuatro Esquinas and in tribute to the memory of their recently deceased founding artistic director – the master composer, bassist Gary Nunez. In honor of Gary, the group is continuing onward, adding to their 30+ year history, now with Gary’s son Luis Gabriel Nunez at the reins as artistic director of this historic ensemble. “I have been a fan of the band for years, and they seem to get better and better with age. The band’s musicianship never disappoints, and their set lists always deliver a danceable good time to a broad range of audiences. We’ve had the pleasure of engaging Plena Libre for the Carnegie Hall Citywide series, and they were a complete hit!
