The lecture will define economic sanctions, give a brief history of economic sanctions, describe the US sanctions in Afghanistan, Iran and Venezuela, reference US domestic reasons for imposing foreign sanctions,
cite The Center for Economic and Policy Research report, consider whether economic sanctions are acts of war,
explore whether sanctions are ever justified and appropriate, cite lies told in support of economic sanctions.

Tom Ellis lives in and works as a social studies teacher at a private school in Albany, and has college degrees in economics, elementary education, and history. He has been an environmental health and peace activist for more than forty years. He helped organize and has been a leader in the Palestinian Rights Committee since 1982.
