On my regular stop to the library, I picked up a copy of Culinary Careers:How to Get Your Dream Job with Advice from Top Culinary Professionals. I’m sharing some of its findings with some of my students and advisees who are interested in various fields in the industry.
What I enjoyed most about my glance at this book was its no-nonsense approach to what it takes to break into jobs, the struggles and triumphs along the way, as well as the diversity of careers available to the culinary minded.
From Getting and Started and Training to Ownership and Entrepreneurship, the book guides the reader through the steps necessary to put you at the top of the minds and thoughts of customers and employers alike.
As well, stories from those who have made it to the top of their profession as well as lists of career paths and profiles give the reader a well-rounded vision of what’s out there for the taking and making.
The book wraps up with a fine analysis of educational opportunities, scholarships, and continuous learning for culinary students.
