A guest speaker on Thursday reiterated one of my biggest beefs with people and their resumes – the chuckles that occur when an HR person sees a resume with someone having an email that sounds like they work for a burlesque show or comedy revue.
You may have seen emails is the past like “hotguy99@whatever.com” or “cuteychick924@yeah.com”. If you want to be taken seriously, don’t have an email
that makes people think twice about you. Keep it simple like “firstname.lastname@gmail.com”
Likewise, when it comes to sports fandom, political beliefs, etc, there is no need to list those on a resume unless they are relevant to a particular job. Don’t give people the ammunition to not hire you because you don’t like the same sports team they do or belong to the same political party, and so on.
