A startling trend over the past few years has developed that I call “The New No”.
The New No occurs when someone you already have a pre-existing relationship/affiliation with is asked to do something or be involved in something, and rather than answering with a yes/no or maybe, they completely ignore the invitation or ask.
What ticks me off more than anything with The New No is the utter disregard for manners and courtesy that it brings. If you have been working with someone for a long time or know someone personally, it can especially hurt when there is no response whatsoever.
How do you avoid The New No? Use the most direct communication method possible – whether it is face to face or the phone, getting a solid answer from someone in the heat of the moment can prevent The New No from happening.
What causes The New No? Using methods like Facebook or email to ask people to do things.
Avoid being a New No-er and you will experience a New Now!
