Recently, the country of France passed a law banning work email after 6pm. This law, while restricting in a sense, gives credence to the notion that many of us are fried at work and need to have some limits placed on our connection to others.
Would this work in America? It is hard to fathom given the 24/7 nature of most businesses, but it does give us all an opportunity to contemplate how this “limitation” can change how work is done.
This week, I challenge you to adopt a no work email after 6pm strategy and see how it works for you. For me, I check email at 6am, 10am, 2pm and 6pm before shifting gears away from work.
