Ethics in the business world, whether it is a small, family run organization, or a big corporation, is truly significant. A worker is going to be more inclined to do well at the job everyday if the environment is safe, friendly, and fair. Workers want to feel good about themselves and the work they do. The employee engagement will soar if the organization is practicing proper ethics. As a young woman who will be working full time in the next few months, I want to accept a job where men and women are treated equally every day. I want to work in an organization where harassment is prohibited, stealing ideas is repugnant, and managers and subordinates respect one another. There should be guidelines in all businesses that not only keep the employees wanting to work until they retire, but keep consumers and stakeholders willing to stay loyal. If I hear about a scandal in a company on the late night news, you bet I will start having doubts about that company and how its run. Business ethics will always be important and relevant, as employees, managers, and individuals want to become involved in organizations they can respect and trust. You should be able to trust the people you are working with so you can exchange new ideas, adapt to change together, and work through any personal differences you may have with one another. Businesses should have the same relationship with its clients and customers: a trusting one.
