Brett and I recently had the honor of attending a high school graduation party for the daughter of my coworker.
The party was a new experience for several reasons…in my home state of Missouri, many of the schools celebration graduation with “Project Graduation” parties sponsored through the high school. My graduating class (of only 70 kids) had an all night party/lock-in at Southeast Missouri State University’s rec center. We went swimming, bowled, ate and played games until the bus brought us home just after the sun came up. Our parents were just thrilled it was all over with!
Up here in New York, it seems as though individual families take the initiative to celebrate a Senior’s accomplishments…and let me say, they have a great time!
Yankee food certainly doesn’t get much attention, but to not comment on it would be a crime. My coworker and her family served tons of “Northern” foods that Brett & I scarfed down!
There were tons of salads served and were were also treated to pulled pork and smokey ribs. But we went back for seconds on the pepperoni and marinara sauce on rolls. That’s right, rolls…not buns!
But our favorite treat of the day…snow cones! I couldn’t remember the last time I had one before this…they were great!
