Our new favorite thing is now exploring the<br \/>\narea every chance we get. We&#8217;re <u>still<\/u><br \/>\ntrying to keep our 2010 New Year&#8217;s Resolution of staying in shape by doing a 5K<br \/>\nevery month, so for our November race we thought we&#8217;d kill two birds with one<br \/>\nstone and cross Connecticut off our &#8220;to-do&#8221; visit list.<\/p>\n<p>We drove 2.5 hours to Washington Depot, CT to run in the Turkey<br \/>\nTrot in Steep Rock 5K and marked our first every journey into the Constitution<br \/>\nState. Turns out, CT is such a cute<br \/>\nlittle state&#8230;literally! The state is<br \/>\nonly 70 miles wide and 110 miles long and is home to only 3.5 million<br \/>\npeople. Most of what we saw was<br \/>\nbeautiful and rural and it seemed as though the state only had one cell phone<br \/>\ntower because we didn&#8217;t have coverage for the majority of our time there.<\/p>\n<p>The falling temperatures haven&#8217;t been real motivating for<br \/>\nus to get out and run, so we pretty much fell out of bed and showed up for this<br \/>\nface. Thankfully, there were no ski<br \/>\nmountains involved! A fast, easy course<br \/>\ndidn&#8217;t help us keep up with the pack of runners, but the scenery was the best<br \/>\nwe&#8217;ve seen so far. We ran this 5K right<br \/>\nalongside the river in the Steep Rock Preserve and honestly, I was glad I&#8217;m not<br \/>\na fast runner&#8230;I would have hated to have missed that view!
