“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose…” Ecclesiastes
When my grandson was three, he and his mother were preparing for his first jet flight ever, and they needed to go to the airport ticket counter the night before to clear up some details for their flight the next day. Things were quiet at the airport and the Southwest attendant asked him if he would like to see the plane he would be flying in. She took he and his mother across the baggage station, through the back door and onto the plane, into the cockpit and everything! What a blessing. A few months later terrorists hijacked similar planes and flew them into the Twin Towers. No little boy will be invited to tour a commercial jet with his Mom ever again in America. That has been stolen from us, that has been lost.
We’ve lost a lot of things in this country, much has been stolen. We can’t go to the Olympics, the Boston Marathon, or any major event without having to look over our shoulder to see if some nut with a backpack bomb thinks it’s his god-given duty to kill and maim innocent people. Gone are the days when we could confidently send our children off to school without even considering that there might be someone who would entertain the idea of massacring them there. If security can restrain the murderers at the doors, there are still the enemies within our schools, churches, and neighborhoods who seek to use our children for their own base motives. Yes, of course the sexual predators; but also those who indoctrinate children, enlisting them for their own political agenda, and those who see our children as their ticket to spend the nation into oblivion. These were threats we never had to consider, a safe place that has been lost. And where is there a safe place? Our streets, our homes, our bank accounts, even our computers and smart phones… danger is at every turn. And now our government; instead of being a friend with a true concern for our welfare, increasingly government is being run by liars, crooks and charlatans who use the rest of this mayhem to promote their own power and agenda, while lining their pockets as well as the pockets of their crony friends. Sometimes it feels like we are surrounded.
There was a video that went viral awhile back where an easy going big kid was being picked on by a little bully. Finally the victim stopped trying to talk his way out of the situation and grabbed the little bully, slammed him into the ground, and walked away. It’s not the best way to handle a situation, but sometimes it’s the only way. We are not children, and we do not solve our problems with violence, but neither is it forever the time to be passive and non-confrontational. Reason and rational debate can bear fruit with reasonable and rational people, but discussion with child molesters, terrorists, and politicians will generally get you to the same place… nowhere. There is a time for rage. There is a time to set civility aside and allow passion to rule the day, to summon the Hulk within us. We have listened enough to the propaganda, lies, and truth twisting; and the time to respond reasonably to it is past. We’ve seen enough to know it will only continue. Responding to nonsense only serves to legitimize it. If we are pro-life, we will be said to hate women. If we speak out for fiscal responsibility, we will be called heartless and against the poor. If we stand against the policies of a President who happens to be black, we will be called racists. And if we become angry over all this and are white, it will be called “white rage”; if we are black, we will just be called stupid. We need to understand that stereotypical labels are used to delegitimize our arguments; to paint our positions as without merit because they come from an inferior heart or mind. Protest all you like, reason is pointless; no one is listening. While we defend our honor, they are stealing our future, and that of our children.
IMHO: There are actually racists in the world, there are people who hate homosexuals, there are misogynists, sociopaths, there was a Hitler. They are such despicable figures that just being compared to them impugns your character, and the argument quickly shifts from the merits to whether you actually are such villains. Enough. If people actually believe that, then that is what they will believe. The time for vain arguments over such issues is through, they can talk all they want about how wonderful they are and how horrible we all are while we are throwing them out of office. Enough of the restraints of political correctness and handling every issue with kid gloves. You can’t win battles using only your shield, bullies won’t usually be reasoned with. There comes a time for passion, a time for contagious rage. The accusations and insults hurled at us may sting, but lies have a short shelf life, and we must be single minded in our reliance on the protection of Divine Providence. Always there will be the need for patriots who will pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor.
Right on, again! The American public has been asleep and not caring for years. I think the Obama Care fiasco has awakened some of the sleeping beast but are enough of them awake? I don’t think so yet! I still am amazed how complacent and uncaring some of us still remain. We are losing freedoms and rights each day and we just turn over and say -“ho-hum.” We are being bullied, insulted and lied to every day and we still say “so what?” Our representatives in the state houses and in Congress have taken their cues from us and so they have followed our lead and done absolutely nothing about this travesty, and so things go from bad to worse. But I remain an optimist anyway. I firmly believe that if we turn back to God and humble ourselves and pray, HE will answer.
