following is another guest post from William Way Jr. It was scheduled to release during the week, but in light of it’s relevance to Benjamin Carson’s documentary/launch of Presidential bid airing tomorrow in this area on the CW at 11:30 AM after Face The Nation, I thought it would be appreciated to publish early:
What? A new Speaker of the House? Who?
In my not so humble opinion Dr. Ben Carson should be nominated and elected to be the next Speaker of The House of Representative in 2015.
No disrespect intended but a run for the presidency by him will be unsuccessful. The reason is that he lacks the “flamboyance” and experience for a national race. The key players he would need to offset those campaign deficits are already scooped up by other candidates with more experience.
Don’t take my comment above to be an attack on Dr. Ben Carson. It is just the opposite. His leadership and reasoning are superb. He is needed. However, the presidency is not (YET) his forte.
As Speaker of the House he will be able to gain the political credibility to match his leadership skills.
Speaker John Boehner has demonstrated that posturing means more to him than either strategy or accomplishment. Too often he has acquiesced to the fears of confronting President Obama. Even though the president has now been politically neutered there is no reason to believe that Representative Boehner will suddenly display his own “cojones.”
The president in the good old fashion “politics as usual” style has sequestered himself for a few hours to lick his wounds. In a rational world a man that has been slapped silly by the voters and is now facing nearly a dozen new bulldogs jumping the White House fence would be working on a strategy of cooperation. But, alas, the president lives inside the beltway of BS, whereat the rational world is not invited.
Rather than having the wisdom of Bill Clinton and thus devising a plan of cooperative action Mr. Obama is choosing to pursue his old course of manipulation. Not to be too hard hitting on the disrobed emperor, but certainly aggressive enough to make it sting, I assert that President Obama can’t shift his style. He has used “manipulation” as his stock in political trade since his first election to Congress. There is no cause to believe he will change horses now.
And, Speaker John Boehner has quivered like Ichabod Crane each time the presidential headless horseman has galloped to the microphone. He will again. It will be the downfall of the Republican control of Congress.
If Congressman Boehner, who in reality contributed nothing to the Republican landslide other than whimper approval of the avalanche, is reelected as Speaker woe be unto the Republicans in 2016. For two years President Obama will run wild in the streets, and the Speaker will ring his hands in the shadows. Ultimately it will be simultaneously the shortest and longest two years of Republican control of the Congress.
The Conservatives won the day Tuesday. Now they scream for Trey Gowdy to be the new Speaker. He is far better than Boehner, but has been painted as too shrill for the average middle American.
What is left is to select a Speaker with leadership skill and a general demeanor of courage, confidence and cooperation. That person is Dr. Ben Carson.
House Republicans would do well to choose him as Speaker. And…I believe a certain number of Democrats would even endorse the idea without fear of losing seniority and committee assignments.
The day has come for practical change in public policy. Dr. Ben Carson is the ideal candidate for that practicality.
That Is The Way I See It.
