Following is William Way’s further examination of the political landscape now that Ben Carson seems to be running for President.

Physician, Heal Thy Self

Well, it appears that Dr. Ben Carson is mistakenly charging forward toward a presidential run in 2016.

Last Saturday I posted on this blog, In My Humble Opinion, that Dr. Carson was not ready for the presidency. I explained why and encouraged that Republicans should select him to be Speaker of the House.

But, alas, presumably it is not meant to be.

What I am also troubled by is that the Republican controlled House will not only avoid going to Dr. Carson, but the Republican controlled Senate will also rush to the ER.

Once in there, the doctors will prod and poke. They will test the BP, and draw blood. More likely than not the ER senior medical staff will examine a sprained wrist and set it in a cast.

I guess I should define some terms before I get much further with my acerbic analogy.

Of course the ER to whom the desperate patient will run is none other than Establishment Republicans. They are guys that have been running the minority into the ground for years. Establishment Republicans lack the stomach for the potentially bloody scene of a real emergency.

As Kevin (Cail) said in his most recent post on this blog site, “This was not an election that people were so much excited by the prospective GOP candidates as they were angry and disillusioned by the failure of the Democratic ones.” Another way to say it is, the folks were tired of being led down the primrose path by Harry Reid. And, they will not take kindly to a follow-up tiptoe through the tulips.

The ER room doctor in my little farce is Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. During his tenure as Minority wimp McConnell has stood outside the rodeo fences poking and prodding the Washington Bull(y), Barack Obama. Once or twice, when the polling offered supreme protection he even played the part of rodeo clown in the ring. But he grins too much at the crowd to be a serious doctor for those conservatives willing to be trampled for principle.

Occasionally testing the BP, blood pressure, is a good thing. Unfortunately repetitive blood pressure testing can become a waste of resources and time. In politics BP testing generally leads to BS prescriptions. Toothless grinning in Kentucky has proven to be the equivalent of BS in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. McConnell may be able to mix a batch of mountain elixir in the Smokies, but he can’t really get the smooth of Iowa corn liquor (all for medicinal purposes only, of course).

Lastly, the senator from Kentucky’s moderate-middle has an ER history of always walking on the safe side, not the wild side. Obama has proven to be a Chicago gang thug; as quick to stab an ally in the back as to maim a bystander in a drive-by shooting. To change the course of the nation’s bloody dressing, what America needs will take a Senate Majority leader that is willing to draw blood when necessary. Under Obama it is growing evident on a daily basis that a transfusion of rational behavior is needed, and soon.

For six years Mitch McConnell has been practicing medicine without a license, allowing the Administration leaches to suck life from America and the senate. His “casting” broken policy and broken laws with plaster will not heal a injured nation. We need a man in whom principles of liberty are “cast” in concrete. He, and he alone, has shown us the need to replace his tired, over-wrought, and exhausting ER rhetoric with a new physician in the senate.

If the likes of Dr. Ben Carson will not make “House” calls our next best hope for surgery is in the US Senate. The only apparent senator not positioning to chase the golden ring of the presidency in 2016 is Senator Mike Lee of Utah.

Senator Lee is among the most brilliant men in the senate. He is industrious and organized in his work. Senator Lee understands both the law and practical medicine for an ailing Congress. He has demonstrated flawlessly that when it comes to principle he can be the Chicago shyster’s principal. Senator Lee may still be a junior senator from Utah, but he is in the senior class of leaders.
