It’s cold and windy…again. Warm up in the climate-controlled comfort of your local cineplex while you’re checking out these new features:
Snitch (PG-13) — Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (Walking Tall, The Scorpion King, and obviously, WWE) stars in this action feature — based on a true story — about a dad struggling to free his son, caught up in the war on drugs. Also with the always fabulous Susan Sarandon (Bull Durham, Thelma & Louise), as well as cast members from The Walking Dead, The Wire, and Oz, this is sure to be an awesomely-bad escape from Witch Mountain.

Dark Skies (PG-13) — Suburbia goes to hell in this thriller about a family which discovers, the hard way, that just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you…but who are they, exactly? Stars Keri Russell (Mission: Impossible III, Felicity, and currently kicking it on FX’s The Americans) and Josh Hamilton (Bourne Identity, Alive) will hopefully keep director Scott Stewart here on Earth in this sci-fi adventure.
Playing at: Madison (Albany), East Greenbush, Colonie Center, Crossgates, Movieland (Schenectady), Rotterdam Square, Hudson Movieplex, Berkshire Mall.
Kai Po Che! (NR) — Bollywood hits the US shores in this movie about three friends who, near the turn of the millenium, open up a cricket academy. The film won acclaim at the recent Berlin International Film Festival. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, who hasn’t yet had a smash hit, but has consistently won directorial praise in his young career. If you haven’t seen Bollywood before, give it a try.
Playing at: Crossgates.
