Next week, Neill Blomkamp’s follow-up to the insanely popular independent sci-fi success District 9 hits theaters. Blomkamp has made clear that Elysium is not a sequel to District 9. He explains that it follows many of the same themes, expanded to a global scale. Still, Elysium takes the ideas, complexity, and raw skill Blomkamp has to offer, and jacks it up with a $100 millon plus budget and a dozen Hollywood movie stars, including Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, and District 9 graduate Sharlto Copley. Check back for my review, but in until then, here’s a buttload of Elysium goodness, including trailers, clips, and interviews to feast on while you wait. And if you haven’t seen District 9 yet, buy or rent it now! It’s an incredible story, with strong social commentary, cool sci-fi action, and a compelling love story all rolled into one.
