Next week, Neill Blomkamp’s follow-up to the insanely popular independent sci-fi success District 9<\/em> hits theaters. Blomkamp has made clear that Elysium <\/em>is not a sequel to District 9<\/em>. He explains that it follows many of the same themes, expanded to a global scale. Still, Elysium <\/em>takes the ideas, complexity, and raw skill Blomkamp has to offer, and jacks it up with a $100 millon plus budget and a dozen Hollywood movie stars, including Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, and District 9<\/em> graduate Sharlto Copley.
