Albany Parking Amnesty Program
ALBANY NY - Did you get a parking ticket in Albany prior to August 1, 2008? It happens to the best of us, and we've all got our excuses... "I didn't see the fire hydrant there" ... "I didn't have time to move my car on my lunch break" ... "I thought I had put enough in the meter" ... and then we forget to pay the fine, and well, now we owe twice as much for the ticket, which we feel we didn't deserve in the first place.
Regardless of what actually happened, we may have some good news for you. If you still owe a double fine on your parking violation issued on or before July 31st, just pay the ticket before December 12, 2008, and the city of Albany will reduce the double fine back to its original amount. Sound like a great deal? We thought so too.
There are a few exceptions, though... if your vehicle has been towed or booted at any point during the duration of the Albany parking amnesty program (September 12 through December 12, 2008) you won't be eligible for the fine reduction.
Good luck, and happy driving... err... parking!
