Travis Northrup Sings Whitney Houston
Albany NY - Travis Northrup of Saratoga tested his vocals in front of a panel of judges on Sunday December 14th, 2009. Northrup sang "I have Nothing" by Whitney Houston during audtions for the upcoming Center for Disability Services Telethon. The panel of four judges from the Foundation at the Center for Disability Services said "Wow" after Northrup sang.
Northrup was one of 50 children and teenagers that tried out for the telethon. At age 13, Northrup says his voice has yet to change which allows him to tackle a Whitney Houston song. Northurp regularly sings at Saratoga County nursing homes.
On January 31st the 50th Anniversary Telethon will broadcast on WXXA Ch. 23 from the Holiday Inn on Wolf Road in Colonie. A roster of 12 acts will be selected to sing from noon to 7pm at the telethon. As one of the oldest telethons in the country the Center for Disability Services raised $1.8 million last year and hopes to have similar success in 2010.
