Technically, the first Albany High School began in 1868 and was known as Albany Free Academy. That school was located on State Street, but by 1876, it had been renamed Albany High School and moved to Eagle Street to the building you see above.
However, in 1912 it was torn down, the school was moved to Lake St, and the courthouse was built to take it’s place. Funny to try and imagine that first image where we see the courthouse now. Especially with all the government buildings and businesses we have today.
